Improve your Posture - Series Basic (6 lessons)
Don’t slouch!” “Stand Up Straight!” “Pull your shoulders back!” These are a few commands that many of us have before in order to avoid “bad” posture. But even though we have tried hard to follow this advice, our posture has not improved much – often it has led us to think we have to lock ourselves into a static position. In this series of lessons, you will learn that you can move beyond your postural habits and have more options and therefore more choices.
You will discover that Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons have a much greater chance of being absorbed into daily life than commands like “stand up straight!”
01 Folding for more uprightness
This great introduction lesson will lay the groundwork for many lessons that will follow in this series. You will gain uprightness without straining yourself.
02 Sliding the hands along the legs
The 2nd lesson of this series will expand on the learning from the first lesson. Learn how the legs and arm influence the center of yourself.
03 Dropping the pelvis
An increased awareness of how the movement of the pelvis influence the movement in the entire person will help you to find better posture.
04 Flexion & Extension Laying on the side
To find efficienct posture you will need to increase the balance btw the flexor and extensor muscles. This lesson laying on the side will address this relationship.
05 Prone Head and Knee towards each other
In order for the spine to provide the proper support you will discover how the movement from the head and pelvis relate to each other and create an increase awareness of your spine.
06 Experience your Skeletal Self
In this lesson you will become clearer on how the transmission of force through your entire skeleton works. By becoming more aware of your skeletal support you will find how your posture improves
